CINELöwenbräukunst Screening: NO U-TURN

Screenings are free to attend. No advance booking necessary.

This event is part of the CINELöwenbräukunst series.

Join us on May 25 at 19:15 for a screening of NO U-TURN in collaboration with the project "Beim Namen Nennen". Following the film, Anna Tervahartiala, Associate Director, Human Rights Watch Switzerland will moderate the panel discussion.

As a young man, director Ike Nnaebue left Nigeria intending to take the route via Benin, Mali, and Mauritania to Morocco - but he never made it to Europe. In his first documentary, No U-Turn, he retraces the life-changing journey he made over 20 years ago. Overlaid with a powerful poetic commentary and insight into the long-reaching impact of a colonial past, this self-reflective travelogue unpacks the deep longing of an entire generation in search of opportunities.

About CINELöwenbräukunst
For the ongoing screening series, CINELöwenbräukunst, the institutions of the Löwenbräukunst present a film program, featuring influential, innovative works that we believe are worth sharing with our community. Whether artist made films, art film cult classics or films chosen by artists, each of these films is proposed by one of the tenants, sometimes in conjunction with the current exhibition program.

CINELöwenbräukunst is an initiative by Hauser & Wirth, Kunsthalle Zürich, Migros Museum für Gegenwartskunst, Luma Westbau.
