We’re pleased to present the next CineLöwenbräukunst hosted by Migros Museum für Gegenwartskunst on April 18, 2026. The event takes place in the exhibition Disobedience Archive (Canopy for Broken Time) at Migros Museum für Gegenwartskunst and starts at 4pm, accompanied by tea and sweets.

The evening brings together film screening, collective reading, and conversation, creating a shared space for reflection, exchange, and communal learning. The programme includes three films by Basma Al-Sharif: We Began by Measuring Distance (2009), Home Movies Gaza (2013), and O, Persecuted (2014).

As part of the Canopy Sessions, Les Complices* realise an edition of The Third Cinema Club. The programme is a series of screenings and collective readings that reimagines the radical legacy of “the third,” envisioned as a revolutionary, anti-colonial cinema positioned outside both commercial and individualistic (auteurist) art film. Conceived as a feminist and diasporic space of study, witnessing, and imagination, the series moves fluidly between film and text, cultivating practices of solidarity, critical thought, and collective world-making.

Basma Alsharif’s films resonate strongly with the exhibition’s focus on Archives in Revolt and Insurgent Communities. Through layered sound, found footage, and fragmented narrative, she approaches Palestine not as a fixed historical record but as a living archive shaped by displacement, memory, and political struggle. Works such as We Began by Measuring Distance and O, Persecuted engage with archival material and the circulation of images, while Home Movies Gazasituates political history within everyday domestic life. Paired with the collective text by Cráter Invertido/taller XD: Palestine Is Near from the exhibition’s reader, the programme invites reflection on proximity and solidarity, asking how struggles archived elsewhere resonate from our own geographies today.

Les Complices is a community-based space rooted in experimental ways of working, activist and artistic interventions in normative discourses, while centring queer, feminist, and BIPoC perspectives. Located in Zurich, the space has existed for 20 years and has a rich legacy of critical and reflective artistic engagement. Through exhibitions, speculative fabulations, readings, listenings, publications, cooking events, and gatherings, Les Complices explores art in expansive ways, creating spaces for communal learning, exchange, discourse, and experimentation.

The Canopy Sessions are a series of talks with actors from art, culture, science and activism in the Shamiana meeting space, an open textile structure in the exhibition Disobedience Archive (Canopy for Broken Time) – In Dialogue with Raqs Media Collective. Here, archives can be experienced as living spaces for storytelling, remembrance and the transmission of knowledge. In addition to talks and readings, the sessions also include practices from our everyday lives that show how deeply knowledge is stored in our bodies. Each session takes up the chapters of the exhibition and asks how shared vulnerability can lead to new forms of attention, relationship and solidarity.
